A roundup of the most loved and new French, Asian and Latin American spots in Westchester + the espresso esplosion!
If you lived in Westchester even five years ago and had been exposed to more cosmopolitan areas, you may have felt that we lacked choices in a few major categories like French, Asian, Latin American, espresso and more. This is no longer the case. Here is a list of new (and loved) places, in no particular order. The goal here is to gather the most mentioned businesses in Westchester Foodies in one easy place. The algorithm of our host company is not always the most reliable and with over 23k members, so many delicious posts are missed. This publication is supported by subscribers, non-restaurant sponsors and is not influenced by ads or free food. (Remember, this is not a "best of" list, rather a "most mentioned and loved" roundup... unranked!)
(This is a living list. Please let us know if we missed a favorite!)
THE FRENCH CONNECTION
Westchester boasts a few tried and true French spots like Le Provencal in Mamaroneck, Le Jardin du Roi in Chappaqua and Encore Bistro in Larchmont and we shouldn’t forget them, but in a matter of one year, we now have five new and amazing French and French-kissed restaurants that are recommended weekly in Westchester Foodies.
HARRISON
HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON
Saint George Bistro (Ok… this one has been around since 2014, but it is recommended as if it was a new hot spot.)
NORTH SALEM
Cenadou, La Bastide (Same owners and location.)
SCARSDALE
ASIA (The continent, not the band.)
Westchester has been home to what some New Yorkers may refer to as “old school” Chinese, Indian and Thai restaurants. Just like old school Italian/Italian American restaurants, these iterations of Asian foods can be delicious and deserve a category of their own (not to mention they’re deeply forged into many of our childhood memories). (but) For those who have traveled to Asia and have fallen in love with their richly diverse and complex foods or those who have been lucky enough to live in a US city with a high concentration of immigrants from this beautiful continent, Westchester is stepping up to the plate.

LATIN AMERICA AND SPAIN
If we had a dollar for every time someone asked for recommendations for "Spanish" food, but didn't actually mean Spain, we would have at least $19. To clarify with all of these well-meaning foodies... Spanish food is from Spain and Spain alone. If you simply love all food from below the United States, you can say "Latin America', but it is truly best when you can get more specific because even though there may be a little overlap in the ingredients used, the cuisines are vastly different, even regionally within each country! That's it for the cultural and geographic Ted Talk!

The espresso esplosion.
Hello, my name is Claudia (Ossa), and I am a coffee snob. I am not a millennial-level coffee snob, but I am very picky about my cortado (Equal parts espresso and cream. No foam.) San Francisco ruined me. When I lived there for seven years, it didn't matter which direction I walked... I could always find incredible coffee and nibbles and each place was decorated according to the style of their owners, like visiting friends who made great coffee and had amazing taste in chairs, but alas... love the one your with. For Westchester, this used to mean Dunkin and Starbucks, and there aint nothin wrong with them UNLESS you are a coffee enthusiast.
